FOSSIL RIDGE INTERMEDIATE SPOTLIGHT
For the 8th consecutive year Fossil Ridge has been named a "Model PLC School" by Solution Tree. There are only 69 such schools (elementary through high) in the entire nation, and just two in the State of Utah that have been identified as "Model Schools." You can access our school's purpose, story, demographics, practices, and results at the all things PLC website, specifically at the following URL:

http://www.allthingsplc.info/evidence/details/id,507

As a result of the above mentioned designation, Fossil Ridge was also invited to apply for the 2016-2017 Solution Tree DuFour award. This award highlights the top performing PLC schools in the entire nation, and includes a $25,000 prize for the winning school. See the following links for information on DuFour Award, Fossil Ridge Application Document, and Fossil Ridge PLC YouTube clip. The top school will be announced in February at the Solution Tree Conference in Phoenix, Arizona.

Secondly, we just heard from the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) that Fossil Ridge has been re-designated as a "Break-Through" School.  This designation is tied to our evidence of learning/assessment data, demographics (must be at least 30% Free and Reduced), and practices that result in high levels of learning for all students. Six such schools will receive invitations to send a team to present at the annual conference this June in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Awards are great, and a good way to celebrate the fact that our teachers and teams are engaged in the right work.  Perhaps more than anything this is evidence of the powerful process of teaching and learning at Fossil Ridge! The success we have, and the success we continue to pursue are the result of teachers who are invested in the process, and students (all) who are meeting high expectations and learning at high levels!  We realize our journey never ends, and we can never be satisfied with the status quo as we pursue perfection, yet we also can take time to pause, and reflect on the successes we have achieved at Fossil Ridge.

Congratulations to our Fossil Ridge Lego League Robotics students and
teams on a very successful and fun competition at Dixie State on Saturday!!
Special "shout-out" to Mr. Stewart and Mrs. Emett for all their time and effort
helping our kids prepare!

FOSSIL RIDGE PROFESSIONAL LEARNING
Teams are THE critical component in a successful Professional Learning
Community. Interdependent teams focused on the right work establish a
culture of learning where ALL students can and will learn at high levels.
This week's resources focus on the inherent value of collaboration, and the
pivotal role it plays in student learning.
